‘Bridgerton’ gets a Season 2 – What that means for Anthony Bridgerton

We knew it was coming…Netflix’s Bridgerton set social media on fire thanks to their romantic sets, stellar costumes… and let’s not forget those steamy love scenes that required an “intimacy coordinator!”

Based on a book series by Julia Quinn, Bridgerton Season 1 was inspired by Quinn’s first book in the series, The Duke and I. The first season of Bridgerton has been seen by over 63 million households – so green lighting Season 2 was a no brainer.

Enter The Viscount Who Loved Me.

You will remember in Season 1 of Bridgerton that Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) is left heartbroken after being rejected by the opera singer but everything changes in Season 2.

The Viscount Who Loved Me is set in 1814 as Regency London gears up for another social season. Anthony Bridgerton is described by Lady Whistledown as an “elusive bachelor who has shown no indication that he plans to marry.”

Except Anthony does plan to marry. In The Viscount Who Loved Me he fights like hell for his fiancé… against “the most meddlesome woman ever to grace a London ballroom.” His fiancé’s sister… Kate Sheffield aka a “spirited schemer.”

Series creator Chris Van Dusen told The Today Show: “Anthony is going to have a love interest next season, and I think it’s going to be as sweeping and moving and as beautiful as viewers of the first season have come to expect from the show.”

How will Shonda Rhimes and co. include Queen Charlotte? Do we get more Regé-Jean? (Please God.) How are they going to call out Lady Whistledown just like that at the end of Season 1?! There is so much to look forward to!

Season 2 of Bridgerton will start filming Spring 2021 in the UK.
